Lessons From Covid On The Spritual Path

Lessons From Covid On The Spritual Path

Like many around the world, my life has changed immensely since the Pandemic began and there have been several lessons from Covid on my spiritual path. I believe that we are still inside the Pandemic experience will continue to be so for several more years.

I also know that nothing will ever be the same again. Our lives as a collective are not ever going back to “the way we were”. In the last few months I have had workshops cancelled and have, by proxy, had a bit more time to reflect and contemplate and this is what has inspired this blog.

I want to hold space for all of us to come together and note the changes, losses, benefits and so much more. I also want to share with you my story and therefore I hope you will feel safe to share yours here or with others. The more we raise our voice and step into our Truth, the more we raise the vibrations of the entire cosmos.

Our Inner Cosmos is a reflection of the external and vice versa. You could say that most of my life I have had a philosophical mind and a heart full of so much love that all I seem to ever want to do is give. Needless to say, a big part of my journey has been learning to receive. This is the ultimate balance of male and female energies or better yet the conscious and the subconscious minds. When we find harmony within we are able to tap into the superconscious or the Total.

Prior to Covid I had a yoga center and a very awesome yoga community. I kept the studio open for almost a year (using my life savings) as I watched members never return to the studio in lieu of taking free yoga online. I continued to give everything I had and started to realize that this outpouring of thought, energy, time, my dwindling life savings was doing nothing for anyone especially myself.

This was the first time I had the paradigm shift on a cellular level that true community starts with ME being United in all States.

You see, until I show up authentically, vulnerably courageous, no one else is going to show up. I was so damn mind blow at the levels of fear, judgement  and criticism that I saw happening that I did not listen to my gut to just close the studio and be done with it. Instead I just kept giving hoping that others would be willing to receive in also willing to give to me in return.

If I cannot receive, why would they be willing to receive my offering. All truths lie within us and I must own this 100%. After a year, I hit a financial wall, and closed the studio. It has been the best decision I have made on a personal level.

My lesson here: Do not operate from fear. Operate from truth. To get to the truth do not look outside of yourself, look within. Ultimately, I felt abandoned by the community that I had spent almost 9 years of my life cultivating 7 days a week however the truth was somewhere along the way I had abandoned myself and thus one was simply the reflection of the other.

This was a huge lesson considering that only one year before my spouse of 15 years died. It was like a double whammy. Death of husband, death of business and death of my little dog. 1, 2, 3 boom pretty much a whole life-gone-talk about humbling!

This brings me to lesson 2: Focus on the love not the loss. As I mentioned I have had tons of time to reflect these days and what I have learned from my journey is that your focus is your super power. I write and speak about this all the time. I even mention it in my Affirmation Course. Focus is how we direct our energy.

When we focus on the external experience first we will almost always experience a limit. If we can orient ourself towards the internal landscape first the external will naturally manifest in a different way.

For me, grief is something that I know well. It is an intimate part of my everyday existence since Covid. I believe this to be true for all of us in some way. Buddhist teachings say that all of life is composed of this grief. I choose to use my free will to focus on the love of myself, my life experiences, my little dog Teddy TBear, my friends etc…

By focusing on the love, I am not avoiding the grief, I am simply asking grief to sit with me, stay with me in the frequency of love. All things end, our attachments to them facilitates the greatest pain. There are not stages for this loss, there is no organized path, not every tool works for everyone.

What you focus on will be what you experience. I choose love, not loss.

Lastly, but not final I want to share another lesson from the last two years as I think I see the entire scope of humanity experiencing this. The third lesson for me has been the power of transformation.

Prior to Covid I worked an average 80 hours per week, had many private coaching and yoga clients and was pouring all of my energy into supporting them in living the life they said they wanted. Now I spend that time and much more pouring energy into myself by meditating, creating content, writing books and living simply.

You see, I use to make 12K per month and now I barely cover my expenses, especially when workshops get cancelled. I do know this will eventually level out and I am immensely grateful that I had assets to sell. Right now I am rich in time. I am rich in presence and this is priceless.

My entire life has transformed in a way that I would not have thought would happen. I used to rush around doing this and that. I used to be so busy that I could only sleep 4-6 hours. I was so FOCUSED on everyone else and as my life shifted from being so focused on giving to others to being willing to receive everything has changed.

Needless to say, things are still changing and there are many other lessons for me and for you I am sure. In order for us to truly affect the entire whole I believe that we need more transparency, vulnerability and inclusivity.

I believe that we must recognize that the deeper we can dive into ourselves the easier the external reality becomes as we are no longer thinking our way into our emotions or emoting our way into our thoughts but instead we are aligning ourselves and integrating each experience as we walk our path daily.

The unintegrated experience is that which causes great harm mentally, physically and emotionally. Until we accept the deepest level of responsibility for ourselves it is going to be challenging to show up unconditionally.

My journey over the last two years has been intense, however the gifts continue to show themselves. I hope that you reflect upon what I have all shared here as well as remember that the only way out is in and if you allow love to be that upon which you focus, your path will be paved with grace.

In love and service to your Highest Self,

Akasha

Cultivating Consciousness Daily

Cultivating Consciousness Daily

Consciousness is: the quality or state of being aware especially of something within oneself.

I gave a talk this week on Insight Timer about cultivating consciousness daily. There are many ways we can cultivate this awareness of self throughout our daily life. So let's dive in and get you some tangible tools for your path.

1. Awaken: like literally. Every day when you awaken you are going from the subconscious/unconscious to the conscious therefore the morning time upon awakening is the perfect time to drop in some gratitude or a purposeful pause that allows you to just become aware of how you are feeling and what you are sensing within the internal landscape. Note: you can take that purposeful pause throughout your entire day anytime you need to tune in:)

2. Breath: well you are already breathing! When we take the time to tap into our breath consciously we can begin to self regulate. Rapid breath is directly linked to the stress response in the body/mind paradigm. Taking a few moments to focus on slowing and evening out your breath is immensely powerful and helpful. Note: here is a link to a breath practice I love.

3. Intention: A lot of times when people set intention it is oriented toward a desire that results in a physical manifestation. I want to invite you to set an intention in how you are going to show up to an experience, conversation, meeting with the boss or HOA etc... As we cultivate consciousness we can raise our awareness of who we are and how we are showing up to what is showing up in our world.

4. Act Consciously: as our awareness expands and we are living consciously we can begin to be accountable to not only our emotions but also to how we are responding to our world. Taking responsibility for our reactions is a potent and powerful way to stay present with ourself as we navigate our daily life. Consciously choosing to respond from a higher frequency will take so much more awareness than just doing the habituated pattern of reaction. Try this one with little things like not slamming cabinets in your kitchen or mindfully setting the dishes on the table. Take the rush out of life and you will notice you have a lot more time!

This is a summation of what I shared in my online talk and if you are interested in learning more about these subjects in relation to your vibration and how to create your own reality then visit my Youtube channel to see a 5 day video series on this subject.

As always....

Stay Illuminated,

Adding Value to People and Life

There are three gates that we must pay attention to when we take action with our words.

I’m always mind blown by people who say negative things about all the free stuff that many teachers are sharing during this time.

Look within your negative narrative as it is the place where your greatest teacher resides.

Blessings🙏

Spiritual Donuts for tasty Awareness

Spiritual Donuts for tasty Awareness
In my most recent book,

POETIC AWAKENINGS: MYSTICAL MUSINGS OF A COURAGEOUSLY LIVED LIFE

I came up with this idea of Spiritual Donuts. These were really born from a conversation a few years ago with my friend Geoff (aka Geoffie).

You see, at that time I was navigating my husband dying as well as learning to run his art business, traveling back and forth across the country weekly (he wanted to be with family) as well as complex family cords, needless to say I was tired and overwhelmed and Geoffie was on the other end of the phone doing what good friends do: holding space for me to breathe and giving me whatever support he could and he said the following:

"Girl, you are doing okay. F$@& the haters and give yourself some scooby snacks."

As you can imagine this made me laugh out loud. You see, with all that stuff going on in my life I still had people judging, critiquing and telling me that I wasn't doing things "right."

I am not even sure if Geoffie knows how pivotal this conversation was for me. I was so focused on my #fofu (i describe this in my book) that it was hard to imagine being "good enough" to support my late husband on his journey to his last breath, not lose my shit on meaningless drama and at the same time keep remembering that I wasn't dying, just my entire life, friend group and so much more was dying and shifting.

It was a real "phoenix" moment to say the least.

Now, almost four years later ,I am still processing some of the crazy stuff I navigated, including insurance, medical drama and inane conversations about $4 perscription fees. Needless to say, I will save the details for the book about my life with the late and amazing Grant Searcey but I am still rising from the ashes of what was my old life.

Anyhow, the whole point of this little post is to share with you this idea of #spiritualdonuts and that every now and then you need to stop, take a moment and just recognize how freaking amazing you are. I know my friend certainly helped buoy me at one of my lowest moments. (Thank you Geoffie.)

Remember, to quote Jen Sincero, "You are a badass. Keep that shit up!"

Life, death and loss are all part of the ride here on Earth and when you can approach all of this with the awareness that this is the beauty of the human experience I can promise you that when that last breath comes it's going to be a lot easier to let go and celebrate the moment with full presence.

This human experience is a painfully beautiful ride and you derserve to be reminded from time to time that you are doing great. Keep it up.

With love and devotion on your journey,

Akasha

Back to Life with Gratitude

Back to Life with Gratitude

I always feel that coming back to life with gratitude is the easiest way for me to stay focused, clear and fluid.

Let me explain.

You see, for me gratitude is a daily practice and has been for years. I either wake up and mentally think of three things I am grateful for, write it down in my journal, or just before I sleep I think of several things that I am grateful have come to fruition in that day. A recapitualtion of sorts if you like.

I have experienced an intense few years, like many people, and I have chosen to pracitce gratitude for years and I gotta tell you that this is a practice that will net you results rapidly.

Here are just a few things a daily gratitude practice can do for you:

-creates greater resilience

-less overthinking

-better sleep quality

-easier to fall asleep

-greater clarity

I could keep going with this list, but I want you to jump onto this train. Right now, just think of one thing you are grateful for and then take a deep breath into that thought. As you exhale just notice how you feel?

Did you suddenly relax your shoulders or perhaps a little smile came to your face?

Keep doing this everyday, hell, do this as much as you want. This is easy and free medicine.

Try it.

As for me, I am immensely grateful to everyone for their support. My Instagram account got hacked last week and I had dozens of messages from people letting me know what was happening. It was so awesome to have that support.

I am so grateful that my tribe has my back!

Spend as much time coming back to the beauty of life with an attitude of gratitude and I promise you will begin to see the gifts in your days and not the challenges as the highlights.

In gratitude + service,

Akasha

Releasing Childhood Trauma

Releasing Childhood Trauma

Releasing childhood trauma is something that is necessary in order to live a fulfilling life based in the present moment. You see, if we cannot speak our truth and release these past pains we will simply just keep burying them and layering distractions (often self annihalating ones) so we don't have to think or feel these old wounds.

I am personally familiar with this because cintinually processing my childhood  allows me to keep my heart open, release old patterns that repeated play out in my reality as well as become a powerful manifestor of a life I desire to live with zest and joy.

As early as this morning, yep today, I was processing some childhood fear filled silence. You see, I went ot bed late and of course slept in late. As I was waking, I happened to look at the time and then jumped out of bed and said out loud "oh my gosh it's late Teddy (that's my dog-no boyfriend yet haha). Next, I had this "mind movie" play out and it was full of all kinds of juicy OLD stuff.

You see, in this little "mind movie" my brain brought forth all the times in my life I had heard the word "lazy" when I slept in late or the words "you aren't going to amount to much if you sleep all day" and of course other stuff.

Just this morning I realized that this deep seated program in my mind has been a major trauma from my childhood to the point where I have had many years of my life fearing going to sleep. Like I have anxiety about falling asleep and then oversleeping or concern that if I sleep in other's will percieve me as not "good enough".

How freaking crazy is this?

Releasing childhood trauma can be this simple. Recognizing the program, choosing to release the program and for me today consciously creating a new neural network around the concept that rest means less stress which is 100% correct.

That outdated program needs to go. Besides, it isn't true. I know lots of writers, artists, successful business owners that sleep past 7am or only work 3-4 hours a day.

Heck, this epiphany has inspired this blog along with some video content for my Youtube channel. Not a bad day's work before 10:30am.:) Ultimately, we have to speak up about our needs. We have to move beyond the idea that we must keep those old traumas smothered in painful silence. When I rest more, I create more. This is true for me.

Silence is golden when you are sitting in it and meditating and listening to the whispers of your Soul. However, silence can also be a violent force of opression to that still quiet voice of the inner child that feels unheard.

When we take time to start processsing and integrating the old wouds of the past and I am certain we are able to release what has long been repressed and allow our voice to come to the surface so that we can speak into existence what we  desire from a space of clarity and stability deep within our heart..

In order to release childhood trauma we must first begin the journey of self study.

Curiosity is key.

If you are curious about where to get started please take a moment and read about The Self Illumination Process.

I created this movement to help others unleash their light and liberate themselves from old patterns in order to live a life of joy, happiness and fulfillment. This process works and I would love to support you on your healing journey.

Stillness and looking within...

Stillness and looking within...

As we solidly move into the Age of Aquarius I believe that there is nothing more important right now than discernment. This is an age of technology and information.

Your ability to sit in stillness and look within yourself is what will truly allow you to live the life you desire and not the life that has been expected from you.

All those expections come from programs installed by systems, cultures, family dynamics and so much more that we are not even aware of until we start getting quiet and going inward.

Unplug, look within and get still because if you do, you will begin to create the very life you say you desire yet do not have.

I am living proof of this.

For years I wanted peace and calm and ease and now I have it. I have these things in my life because I stopped doing what others expected and starting listening to the quiet voice within. You can call it intuition, you can call it "guides" or you can call is Source. Either way, my life is much more peaceful than it has ever been and I am immensely grateful for this calm and ease everyday.

Every time I sit in stillness I am practicing the art of discernment. In a world full of information, expectation and so much more I can tell you that this single thing is by far one of the most potent gifts of my spiritual path.

As you navigate your day, I hope you take time to get still and look within so that you may experience a life of peace, joy and laughter.

Much love to you now and always, Akasha💚

Handing off "The Hard Worker" mindset...

Handing off "The Hard Worker" mindset...

The more you push the less you will feel like you have what you desire. The "hard worker" mindset is programmed into all of us and creates more problems than we can even imagine.

When you start to just step in and lead from a place of truly living in flow you will begin to see how you can no longer operate from ego. Only YOU can stop the pushing of your mind.

Everything you desire is within reach. You just gotta let go of what you think you know.
